New RTS Castle Building Game for PC - Games Development News
Hi Stewards,
Well after such a long break from development it has been nice to get back into some development of the game. Its taken me a week to work out what was what and begin to sort out some of the bugs I left the V0.45 with. So whats new and whats been fixed?
SEASONS
Because I changed from a static sun position to a fully dynamic day/night cycle a lot of things sadly didnt work in V0.45 when it came to weather and seasons. Ive started the process of getting them back in and working as it also effects plant growth. Below you can see nightime and this too has seen some new development with a changing moonlight angle every night. This ensures that you can either see really well or you may be left in far darker conditions.

Below: Winter is a hard time as you can not assign your villagers to crops, you must relie on hunting or food reserves to survive

Now that the seasons are back in and working I took the time to adjust the season indicator in the top left corner. As you can see it provides you with a clock button which if pressed jumps the game ahead one month. The game starts in 1275 but that may change. Below that is a progress bar showing you what month you are currently in and this is also reflected in its colour. Weather effects have yet to be added back in but plant growth is now in and working again so expect fruit bushes and trees to recover if you take resources from them.
VIKING RAIDERS RETURN
Vikings is where i started to develope the Ai for the enemy factions and due to a few bugs they failed to make it into V0.45. After some searching and adjustments they are now back in and fighting with one and all. Later through development I will be making the vikings raiders instead of just a blood hungry mob. By that I mean their goal is going to be to steal your resources and if you happen to get in the way then expect some consequences.

FACTION WAR AND ALLIANCE INDICATORS
At the top of the screen I have added in some indicators to show you who you are at war with and who you have alliances with. This saves you constantly heading to the trade and diplomacy panel to double check. More will be done with this as development continues over the coming weeks.

ADDITIONAL NEWS
I will soon start to develope the games first NPC's which im very much looking forward to. If you have any ideas, feedback etc then the discord is the place to be. Below you can see some ideas for some of the NPC's. Still very early in this area of development. Basicaly they will come in a range of classes, spies, assasins, traders, religious leaders, expert builders, expert warriors and more.
